IT'S that time of year again when Redditch Council will be lighting up the district with the annual Christmas lights switch on event.

The event will start at 3pm and finish with the lights being turned on at 5pm tomorrow, Saturday, November 24.

As well as switching on the Christmas lights, there will also be a host of other festive entertainment for children to enjoy, such as face painting and a visit from Father Christmas and his helpers.

There is plenty to do for the adults too with music from local band Stakeout and Glamba to get people in the festive spirit.

Councillor Luke Stephens, whose portfolio covers leisure, said: “The annual Christmas lights switch on event always helps everyone to really get into the Christmas spirit.

"We have plenty of activities and entertainment for all the family to enjoy, so come on down and start your Christmas in style.”

The official switching on the Christmas lights will be by Maureen Nolan, star of this year’s pantomime Sleeping Beauty.
