Brothers assaulted walking home

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an assault on two brothers walking home in Redditch.

It happened at about 11.45pm on Saturday, October 20.

The victims, brothers in their early 20s, were walking along Beoley Road East when they sensed they were being followed by a large group of young men.

As the victims walked under the underpass the group walked past them and then turned round.

One of the victims was hit on the leg, causing him to stumble.

He got back to his feet to see his brother being assaulted.

As he went to help his brother he was punched in the face.

His brother was punched to the head causing him to fall to the ground.

He got back to his feet but was continually punched to the head and pushed against the side of the underpass.

The offenders were a group of six to eight men, also aged about 20, two of whom were black and it is thought the others were white.

Police are trying to trace a white man wearing a hoody who walked towards the victims shortly after they had been assaulted, as he may have important information.

He or anyone else who can help are asked to contact PC Cordelia Thompson at West Mercia Police on the non emergency number 101 quoting incident 4-s-211012 or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
