AS part of Kingsley College’s drive to inspire a love of reading, a reading immersion day was held with a Harry Potter theme.

The aim was to inspire creativity in students through a love of learning and reading, with all lessons during the day themed with ideas inspired by JK Rowling’s books.

Lessons included spells using Latin words in English, calculating the most successful Hogwarts house based on the speeds reached during a race in maths, and brewing Hermione’s dragon cleaner potion in science.

And teachers embraced the idea of dressing up, as did students.

Helen Burton, head of English, said: “Reading immersion days are a way of bringing books to life and I am so proud of the efforts of staff and students alike who have dressed up and offered learning experiences to create Hogwarts at Kingsley.”
