Growing need for foster carers in Redditch

THE need for more foster carers in Worcestershire to cope with demand is greater than ever.

Worcestershire County Council supports more than 200 fostering households across the county, with the number of children in foster care more than 430.

It is aiming to recruit 24 new foster carers this year with at least six coming from the Redditch area.

Barbara Carter, operational manager for fostering at the county Council, said: “With the number of children being looked after by foster carers continuing to rise year-on-year, recruiting more foster carers is our priority.

“We continue to offer excellent support and training to our carers and would encourage anyone that is thinking about fostering to get in touch.”

Foster carers are paid a weekly fee and an allowance per child in placement.

In addition they will receive a 'retainer' payment between placements and respite when required.
