WORK is now underway to install Big Lottery-funded active play equipment in Morton Stanley Park.
Two 25-metre zip wires, a basket swing, a twinfly, which simulates the sensation of a parachute jump, and an aeroskate rail will become permanent features in the park, which is owned by Redditch Council.
Installation, which includes excavation work and the laying of a new safety surface, is expected to take around three weeks.
Money for the equipment has come from a £200,000 Big Lottery Fund grant.
The grant is also funding a mobile play ranger unit, which will provide 15 free play sessions a week across the borough, including Friday evenings at the park.
Ken Watkins, head of leisure and arts at the council, said: "We are aiming to keep disruption in the park to a minimum during the work. Weather permitting, the equipment should be in place in time for the summer holidays."
Councillor Peter Anderson, portfolio holder for leisure, said: "I am delighted that work is now underway in Morton Stanley Park. Thanks to the Big Lottery Fund we can offer more exciting leisure and play activities to young people in the town."
