Reds plan for South
REDDITCH United boss Gary Whild says he is planning for next season in the Conference South
And he says it is unlikely' the club will be appealing to the league about being switched from the North division.
The FA Leagues committee made the decision to move Redditch and Worcester City from the North to the South last Wednesday, whilst admitting promoted Kings Lynn to the Conference North.
Lynn were understood to have made representations to the Conference in protest at the decision but have been told their are no grounds for appeal, although the decision is still to be ratified at the league's AGM next month.
Whild said he had mixed feelings about the move, but from a football point of view he thinks his team will be more than capable of competing.
He said: "It will involve more travelling and the loss of a few local derbies such as at Solihull and Tamworth, Nuneaton and Telford
"But the quality of football is as good, if not better, in the South and although some teams will be an unknown quantity, if we can retain this squad I think we will do well in it."
Whild said he had had premliminary discussions with the players he has retained for next season and none of them had expressed reservations about playing in Conference South.
He said: "I can't see us appealing the decision - the chairman is quite philosophical about it as the players seem to be and at least we know at an early stage what we are in for."
Likely make up of Conference South for 2007/2008: AFC Wimbledon, Basingstoke Town, Bath City, Bishop's Stortford, Bognor Regis Town, Braintree Town, Bromley, Cambridge City or Weston-super-Mare (If Cambridge City are expelled from league, Weston will take their place), Chelmsford City, Eastleigh, Fisher Athletic, Hampton and Richmond Borough, Havant and Waterlooville, Hayes and Yeading United, Maidenhead United, Newport County, Redditch United, St Albans City, Team Bath, Thurrock, Welling United, Worcester City.
