A REDDITCH resident has celebrated her 100th birthday with a party attended by mayor David Hunt.
Doris Thompson, of Church Hill, celebrated the milestone with family and friends on Saturday, May 10 and her daughter Merlene, said she was very proud of her mum.
"She's an eccentric sort of person," added Merlene.
"She was always doing things for people and helping others.
"She was very excited about the party."
Doris has lived in many parts of the world, including the Caribbean, and along with balloons and flowers received a telegram from the Queen.
Mayor David Hunt added: "It was a very nice day and she's a lovely lady. Just to have reached that age is a wonderful achievement that should be recognised."
