Body found in London traced back to Redditch
A DECOMPOSED body found in a truck in London has been traced back to the Crossgates waste depot in Redditch.
The body was discovered on Tuesday, May 13 at a waste management company in Crayford, where the town's recycling is taken for processing after collection.
Redditch Council closed the Crossgates waste depot on Wednesday, May 14, where it remained shut for 24 hours causing disruptions to services across the town.
The death of the male is being treated as unexplained as police from West Mercia, West Midlands and the Metropolitan forces continue their investigations.
A post mortem examination took place on Wednesday, but was not conclusive and the results of further tests are awaited.
A council spokesman said that those whose bins were normally collected on Wednesday would be picked up later than normal and residents should still put their bins out for collection, however, some green recycling bins may not be emptied until next week.
There will also be delays to council repairs, street-cleansing works and the council's Dial-a-Ride service.
