Southwick hits a ton in Redditch winin

9:48am Wednesday 14th May 2008

REDDITCH CC went second in Crusader Worcestershire One after a fine 118 win over Oldswinford.

Russell Southwick hit 118 as Redditch posted 276-9 off 50 overs, Adam Galley weighing in with 60.

They then dismissed the Black Country outfit for 158, captain Dan Protherough taking 4-36.

Protherough was delighted with the performance of his side, and felt Southwick was due a big score.

He said: "Maybe Russell has underachieved a little bit at times in the past few years and it all came together for him on Saturday so hopefully he can take it on from here.

"Similarly with Adam I have always felt he has the potential to get a few more runs and turn scores of 40 into 60 or more.

"It is coming together a bit for us in terms of building partnerships and supporting each other in the field - we have got two wins out of three and are just behind Stourbridge so we are nicely placed."
