Studley pub destroyed in blaze

FIRE crews were called out to The Griffin public house in Studley at 5.35am on Sunday, May 5, when a fire tore through the building.

The derelict pub, on Green Lane in Studley, is currently under refurbishment and lying empty.

The fire is believed to have caused significant damage to the basement of the building as well as the ground floor and first floor.

Four fire crews responded to the blaze, three from the Redditch fire station and one from Bromsgrove. They were on the site tackling the blaze until 8.15am, when crews from Warwickshire took over in damping down the building.

The cause of the fire is as yet unknown and the incident is under investigation by Warwickshire Fire and Rescue.
