THE petition to safeguard Woodrow Library is gaining strong local support.
Residents, traders and councillors have been campaigning against closure or relocation of the library in an effort by Worcestershire County Council to help make savings of £250,000.
Jacqui Smith MP, who is supporting the campaign, said: "Hundreds of people have shown their support for Woodrow Library by signing the petition.
"It is vital we tell the county council during the consultation period that the local library is well used and much needed in the community, not only for the services that it provides but for the sustainability of the Woodrow Shopping Centre."
Anyone who would like to support the library can sign the petition in one of a number of Woodrow shops.
