THE search is over for the choreographer who will lead an innovative dance project in Worcestershire.

Jennifer Irons has been beaten off stiff competition to be named as the choreographer of 12 Moves - a project run by Dancefest as part of the wider culture programme for London 2012.

Irons will start work immediately with both the 12 Moves dance squads and artistic directors SDNA, a digital film company, to create the flash mobs which will appear around Worcestershire in surprise performances during the Cultural Olympiad Open weekend on July, 23 and 24.

The flash mobs, as well as a number of different performances, are all leading towards a much bigger event in March 2012.

But none of it should be too taxing for Irons, who’s CV boasts a range of experience - from working as a guest artist with Adugna Dance Theatre in Ethiopia, teaching arts for social development with ex-child soldiers in Uganda and contemporary dance consultant to the Fiji Arts Council.

Dancefest artistic director Rose Beeston said: “Dancefest is delighted to have Jennifer working as the choreographer for 12 Moves as her experience includes working with both professional and community dancers, on film and site specific work – including directing a dance in Trafalgar Square – all of the qualities needed for 12 Moves. We welcome Jen to the team and are excited to have such talent onboard as we go forward with the project.”
