NINETY-eight years after she sunk to the bottom of the Atlantic comes a play about the man who was in charge of the Titanic.

The Man Who Left the Titanic, a new play by Patrick Prior, is performed at the Norbury Theatre this weekend. It looks at the actions of Joseph Bruce Ismay, managing director of the White Star Liner, who stepped into a lifeboat and sailed away from the stricken ship, escaping the screams and cries of its doomed passengers.

The play asks whether Ismay did what most others would have under the same circumstances or he has been rightly branded a coward.

For tickets to the Isosceles theatre company production, being performed for one night only on Saturday, October 23, call 01905 770154 or book online at norburytheatre.org.uk. All tickets are £10.
