MUSIC lovers from as far afield as the United States, Mexico, Australia and Europe will be descending on Redditch town centre next month to honour a local lad who became a global star.

A music festival in honour of Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham will be held in September.

But the event, which is promising to put Redditch on the music map, is going to cost around £16,000 and is reliant upon help raising the cash.

Local firms are being urged to get involved and support the event, organised by John Bonham Memorial Friends in partnership with Heart of Worcestershire College.

Event manager Ros Sidaway said: "We have developed a full range of sponsorship packages to suit businesses small and large, starting from as little as £100 up to £4000.

“This is a brilliant opportunity for Redditch businesses.”

Redditch Advertiser:

The special event will run from 1pm to 11pm in a festival marquee on the Heart of Worcestershire College car park in Peakman Street.

It will feature a stellar line-up of rock/blues artists, headlined by Led Zeppelin tribute band, Letz Zep.

John Bonham A Celebration is on September 22.

Proceeds from tickets, costing £25 (plus £1.50 booking fee), are going to Teenage Cancer Trust.
