A FESTIVAL celebrated its 20th birthday with a fantastic line up and a whirlwind of fun for all the family.

People flocked to Nozstock, in the Hidden Valley, Bromyard, for the two-day festival last weekend, writes Jessica Charles.

The Social Ignition kicked off the Orchard Stage with ska and reggae vibes and boundless energy.

Post Punk idols We Are Scientists, a favourite of Nozstocks co-founder Ella Nosworthy, brought their great hits which got the crowd dancing.

While Friday saw pioneers of the 2 tone era, The Selector led by charismatic front woman Pauline Black. The night was headlined by drum n bass giants, Chase and Status.

Grandmaster Flash, a pioneer of hip hop DJing took the crowd through a journey from the birth of hip hop in the 1970s until present day, with massive tunes and artful scratching.

Randall, just one of the plethora of drum n bass artists at Nozstock, delivered a thumping set while The Blockheads, a British rock band, gave the audience a treat and got them singing along to their throwback hits at the top of their voices.

Aristocrats, a hip hop collective with members hailing from Worcester and Malvern also impressed on the Garden stage with their fresh sound.

A stand out performance was Sunday Headliners Goldfrapp, whose magnetic frontwoman had the massive crowd in the palm of her hand with dance hits, synth-pop and electro sounds.

Elsewhere, in the Coppice, a little area in the woods, with trees adorned with luminous butterflies, Tribe of Frog delivered powerful Psytrance, with an array of artists pleasing the ravers until the early hours with colourful sounds and textures and thundering beats to get the pulse racing.

Crafty activities were enjoyed including wooden mushroom or flower whittling and dream-catcher making. Those who had been partying too hard could also indulge in a relaxing massage.

The adventure never stops with so much to do and see the entire time, yet it is in a small and friendly hilly farm, which is full of little nooks and crannies where stages and other secrets are hidden.

Anything but bland, Nozstock also featured bizarre theatrical performances in a little dark tent throughout the weekend.

The Altered State stage included Hummadruz, who entertained and alarmed with a psychedelic UV light show.

Diversity is the spice of life at Nozstock. It's no surprise it continues to be loved after 20 years.
