SEMINAL Britrock power-pop trio Dodgy, fronted by Redditch-born Nigel Clark, have been announced as the opening act on the Britrock Must Be Destroyed tour.

With 12 top 40 singles and more than a million sales worldwide, Dodgy produced some of the most recognisable hits of the 90s, including Staying Out For The Summer, If You’re Thinking Of Me, and Good Enough, which is officially one of the most played tracks on British radio in the last 20 years.

The pop band join the line-up of Reef, The Wildhearts and Terrorvision – bringing together four of the greatest rock hit makers of the 90s.

As part of the tour the band will be coming to Digbeth Arena in Birmingham on May 5.

"I'm looking forward to it," said Nigel.

"It should be really good fun.

"I've been doing a lot of solo stuff recently so it'll be good to get back with the guys. I think it's been about six months since our last full band show. We're excited to be part of it."

The frontman admitted the band had been cutting back on playing live as they are working on a new album, set for release next year.

"I've been writing new songs since last year and I'm really pleased with what we have so far," said Nigel.

"I've been working on it from own basement studio so it's taking a lot of time but it should be out June next year. People can expect the new album to be a bit more mature, but still with lots of energy - I want to keep it upbeat."
