LOCAL theatregoers have a treat in store when the hugely popular musical, Cabaret, takes in Malvern’s Festival Theatre as part of its new 2017 UK tour  - and it doesn’t stop there with more to look forward too with the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Cabaret will arrive in Worcestershire on Tuesday, October 10 and run through to Saturday, October 14, and is sure to attract full houses each night.

If that isn’t enough to set the pulse racing the show, under the Bill Kenwright banner, will also feature two star names in Will Young and Louise Redknapp..

Will Young will be reprising his Olivier Award-nominated performance as the enigmatic Emcee for this revival of Rufus Norris' multi-award winning production and Louise Redknapp will be the enigmatic English singing star, Sally Bowles - roles made famous in the big screen version by the wonderful Joel Grey and Liza Minelli.

Then dashing quickly forward to the Christmas period there will be two classic tales on offer at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon.

A Christmas Carol, from November 27 until February 4, 2018, is the festive offering, along with Twelfth Night from November 2 through to February 24, 2018, with the two plays on alternative dates David Edgar’s new adaptation of Charles Dickens’ much-loved classic story is his first since the multi-award winning production of Nicholas Nickleby in the 1980s.

The production is directed by Rachel Kavanaugh and designed by Stephen Brimson Lewis. Rachel was last at the RSC in 2003, when she directed The Merry Wives of Windsor and she recently directed the award-winning Half a Sixpence in the West End.

Twelfth Night, in which twins Viola and Sebastian are separated in a shipwreck and forced to fend for themselves in a strange land will feature Adrian Edmondson as Malvolio.

Adrian is most well-known for his numerous TV credits including The Young Ones, Bottom, Blackadder and more recently One of Us and War and Peace.

In the role of Olivia is Kara Tointon, who is best known for her TV work including playing Rosalie Selfridge in ITV’s Mr Selfridge and Sound of Music Live! This year her credits have included ITV’s series The Halcyon and the UK tour of Gaslight (ATG/Smith & Brant).
