RARE singing skills combined with pointless grandeur and ridiculous humour are the ingredients for a magnificent evening when Feckenham welcomes A Fistful of Spookies.

The choral group will be performing at the village hall on Saturday, February 11 at 7.30pm.

People can expect glorious close harmony singing and plenty of swagger from one of the funniest bands ever in an unconventional concert that promises to be hugely entertaining

A Fistful of Spookies is 'a fun size version' of a massively successful 16-man Australian performance choir (The Spooky Men's Chorale).

Long before Gareth Malone was persuading everyone to join choirs and change their lives with choral singing, The Spooky Men's Chorale was a huge hit at festivals and large venues.

On their recent UK tour they charmed crowds with their gorgeous close harmony singing whilst dressed top to toe in black, sporting a fine range of mad hats, moustaches and beards that made them 'look like a mildly deranged gang of construction workers, colonial governors and pirates'.

And when the main choir’s not performing, the British members (five of them, hence the “fistful”) take to the road reprising such hits as Don’t Stand Between a Man and His Tool, It’s Out There Somewhere Doris and Sometimes I Forget Things – as well as sonorous classics and heart-rending melodies – all unaccompanied and without the aid of a safety net.

Sensational stylings of Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, The Beach Boys, brand new tunes by Spookmeister Stephen Taberner and thousand year old Georgian songs, guaranteed to woo, charm, cheer and delight.

The show has been brought to Redditch’s rural outpost by Shindig - the county’s performing arts scheme.

It is sponsored by Arts Council England, Worcestershire County Council and Redditch Borough Council.

Tickets cost (£10) are on sale at the Village Shop and The Rose & Crown in Feckenham or people can book online at ticketsource.co.uk/feckenham or by phone on 0333 666 3366.
