ACCLAIMED singer and actor Roland Lee Gift will showcase new music and revisit classic songs when he comes to Birmingham this December.

The show, at Birmingham's Hare n Hounds, will see the solo artist and frontman of worldwide stars Fine Young Cannibals wrap up new material and classics from the into an evening of kitsch Christmas cabaret-style entertainment including stand-up comedy, raffles and prizes.

Live recordings from the performances are set to be included in a major release planned for 2017.

Roland will be accompanied by a six-piece band that includes drummer Dave Barbarossa (Adam and the Ants, Bow Wow Wow and Republica) and guitarist Dave Randall (Dido, Faithless) along with vocalists Debbie Isaac and Julie Longworth from Stiff Records-signed soul a capella band The Mint Juleps.

Following a host of UK festival and European summer dates, the former cover star of Rolling Stone magazine Roland is keen to share new songs with fans in parts of the country which hold the most importance for him.

Other shows will be in Hull and London.

“Performing in the three UK cities I’m proud to call home in one way or another is the perfect close to 2016 for me," he said.

"Hull, London and Birmingham all hold special connections for me, so I’m really looking forward to three wonderful evenings of music, laughs and cheer, in the company of some exceptional musicians and performers.

The British musician and actor was born in Birmingham, grew up in Hull and lives in London.

The show is on December 20.
