MULTI-platinum recording artist Bryan Adams is to play the first major rock gig to be staged at the home of the Worcester Warriors rugby club.

The gig at Sixways Stadium is one of just a handful of outdoor shows the Canadian musician will perform in the UK next year as part of his Get Up tour.

Bryan Adams said: “I’m delighted to be heading to Worcester next summer. It will give me an opportunity to perform tracks from my latest album, Get Up, as well as some of my earlier classics. It’s going to be a special show and I hope my fans are able to join me.”

Adams is best know for hit singles such as Heaven, Summer of 69, Run to You and Everything I Do, I Do it for You.

The outdoor show at Sixways, on July 14, is being organised by concert promoter LCC Live, whose director Les Kidger said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be bringing Bryan Adams to Worcester.

Ryan Bezuidenhout, Sixways' general manager, added: “We are delighted to be able to attract someone of Bryan Adams’ stature, as he is an internationally-acclaimed star who is known for his ability to entertain.

“The artificial grass pitch we installed in the summer means we are now able to host live concerts at Sixways and these events will be a key part of our business strategy going forward.

“Sixways is easy for people to get to, has on-site car parking and has top-class stadium facilities so we know how much potential there is for us to grow the events side of our business through live concerts.

“There is clearly an appetite across the West Midlands to watch top-end music stars and we believe Sixways will become a major destination for those stars over the coming years.”

Tickets will go on sale at 9am on Friday, December 2, and are available from ticketline.co.uk or 0844 888 9991.
