A NUMBER of exciting one-night shows are scheduled for the Malvern Theatres between now and the end of April.

Legendary pop group The Hollies will be recreating the hits of yesteryear, such as the pop classic The Air That I Breathe and Carrie Anne, when they appear at the Forum on Saturday, April 9.

Obviously the Hollies line up has altered dramatically over the years since the 1960s but Tony Hicks who joined in 1962 is still with the group as is Bobby Elliott who joined the following year.

And in spite of the retirement of original singer Alan Clarke, the line-up of recent years is still quite familiar such as Ray Stiles, and Ian Parker - plus new singer Peter Howarth and guitarist Steve Lauri - and they continue to present a dazzling show, featuring favourite songs and that trademark Hollies sound.

A few days later, on Thursday, Aprll 14, DaPaul - whose debut album Soulful Spirit was released three years ago snd reached number three in the UK Soul Chart, will be performing.

Both shows start at 7.45pm as does It’s All About You - an evening featuring Strictly Come Dancing’s Pasha. That’s on Wednesday, April 20, then on the following Saturday, April 23, there’s comedy in the shape of Graeme of Thrones, direct from London’s West End.

This has Graeme taking the audience on his own unique journey through the Seven Kingdoms - an original and unauthorised parody on the international phenomenon that is television’s Game of Thrones.

It’s been created by some of the UK’s top comedy writers and should provide fun for all the family.

Then just before the month ends, on Friday, April 29, the double MOBO award winning saxophonist YolanDa Brown will bring a little sunshine to Malvern with a special set titled Reggae Love Songs.

Joining her will be a special guest, soul legend Mica Paris.

April also features a two-night special at the Festival Theatre - 3 days and 3 minutes with Larry.

This is a new play by Chris Mellor looking back at the three days leading up to what would be the final finale of the ageing and hugely popular camp comedian, Larry Grayson.

On Friday and Saturday, April 29 and 30, his fans will have the chance to relive some of Larry’s best comic material and once again hear about his most loved characters, Everard and Slack Alice.

There will be a matinee show on the Saturday.

For much younger theatre-goers there’s a brand new Peppa Pig show on Wednesday and Thursday, March 23 and 24 - with performances at 1 and 4pm on the Wednesday and 10am and 1pm on Thursday.

The new show - Peppa Pig’s Surprise - is an inter-active adventure featuring lots of singing and dancing.

Also in March the endurance cyclist Mark Beaumont, who has set numerous records around the world, will be regaling his audience on Wednesday, March 30 (7.45pm) with his one-man show, Africa Solo.

Another one-man show kicks off April and that’s the return of Cornish comedian, Jethro.

His Jethro Live show is on Friday, April 1 (7.45pm).
