FORGET about The Voice and other so-called talent shows - Redditch is where the real talent is.

Following last year’s success, The Redditch Palace Theatre organised Redditch Has Talent is back and there's not a swivelling chair or buzzer in sight.

The competition is looking for 12 to 16 acts featuring talented people from the town.

Anyone aged 10 to 100-years-old can apply so long as they are from within an approximate eight mile radius of Redditch.

There will be no restriction on the talent – singing, musical instruments, bands, magicians, ventriloquists, jugglers, dancers, acrobats, and anything else people can think of.

Each act will have a maximum of five minutes to perform.

A spokesman from the theatre said: "The initial selection for the finalists will not require specialist equipment – we just need to see the ‘raw’ talent for the final.

"The theatre will provide all the necessary technical support and advice so that every finalist is given the opportunity to perform at their best in a professional environment.

"We know there is a wealth of talent out there. Most importantly, please remember that this is about enjoying yourselves and sharing your talent with others."

Application forms for the auditions are available from the theatre box office or via redditchpalacetheatre.co.uk

All applications for an audition must be at the theatre no later than February 26.

Auditions will take place in the Theatre’s Room Upstairs from March 5 onwards.

Last year's event was hosted by Dave Wilkins, MBE, and also featured entertainment from the theatre's own young talent the Palace Youth Theatre, and Ipsely RSA Academy.
