MUSIC lovers throughout the county are being invited to give a night of Viennese music a whirl in the new year.

The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra will be ringing in 2016 performing their Magic of Vienna classical concert at Malvern’s Forum Theatre on Saturday, January 2.

You haven’t seen in the New Year until you’ve raised a glass of champagne to Vienna, where the songs are sweeter than Sachertorte and every waltz awakes a thousand tender memories.

The CBSO’s annual Viennese evening has all the tunes that are so loved… Anvil Polka and of course The Blue Danube, with the sensational Icelandic tenor Gardar Thor Cortes singing some of Viennese operetta’s most mouth-watering numbers: Prosit!

The orchestra will be led by conductor Stephen Bell and the night will star not only the tenor, Gardar Thor Cortes, but also a programme featuring - Suppé Overture, Light Cavalry, Strauss' Ohne Sorgen Polka, Lehár's The Land of Smiles – You are my heart’s delight, Strauss' Mit Dampf Polka, Strauss' Anvil Polka, Lehár's Gold and Silver Waltz and Strauss' Thunder and Lightning Polka plus others.

The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1920 by the civic leaders of the city of Birmingham. and it has a worldwide reputation for delivering an extraordinary range of outstanding orchestral music concerts.
