BUDDING young actors have the opportunity go on a magical adventure by auditioning for the Palace Youth Theatre’s latest show.

Any young people who enjoy performing or would like to try something new can audition for His Dark Materials which is being put on by the group in July next year.

Based on the book of the same name by Philip Pullman, which also inspired the film The Golden Compass, the show follows the adventures of Will Parry and Lyra Belacqua as they journey to The Republic of Heaven meeting some fantastical creatures like witches and armoured polar bears along the way.

Auditions will be held on Thursday, December 17 at the Palace Theatre.

The auditions are open to anyone, including non-members, aged eight to 18-years-old.

Auditionees do not need to prepare anything for the audition but a good knowledge of the story/show would be an advantage.

Auditions for eight to 12-year-olds will take place from 5pm until 6.30pm and auditionees aged 12 plus will start at 6.30pm until 8pm.

Lizzi Tabberer, from the youth theatre, said: “Whilst the show is not widely known, anyone who has seen The Golden Compass will know what an amazing adventure story it is. We’re really excited about the show and it doesn’t matter how much or little experience you have, just come along and give it your best shot.”

In the event of a successful audition, auditionees will need to join the group's On Stage group from January which meets on Wednesday evenings during term time between 6.30pm and 8.300pm at the theatre.
