DARK deeds are afoot in Victorian Whitechapel in a mystery thriller heading for Malvern’s Festival Theatre next week.

It all unfolds with the grisly serial killings dubbed by the popular press as the work of ‘Jack the Ripper’, but from deep within the smog-ridden slums, another piercing shriek is heard. And for the world’s greatest detective of his time, Sherlock Holmes, there is a uniquely personal element to this new and terrifying case.

Sherlock Holmes and the Ripper Murders is written and produced by Brian Clemens, who is well known as the writer of such television delights as The Avengers and The Professionals.

Here he pitches Holmes and his faithful ally, Dr Watson, into one of the darkest plots ever to shake the foundations of England, complete with conspiracies and corruption at the highest level of the establishment.

The play boasts a host of characters and has a large cast which includes Neil Roberts (Holby City), Kim Taylforth (London’s Burning and Bad Girls), George Telfer (Emmerdale), Katy Dean and Samuel Clemens, Brian Clemen’s son, in the title role of Sherlock Holmes.

The play runs from Tuesday, July 21 to Saturday, July 26, 2015.
