SINGERS, bands, choirs and DJs of all varieties can show off what they’ve got this August at the annual Morton Stanley Festival.

Last year more than 12,000 people flocked to the free, two-day summer music festival, where some of the best talent coming out of Redditch takes to the stage alongside more established acts.

This year the festival will take place on August 22 and 23 and Redditch Council is looking for local acts to join in.

Redditch Council’s head of leisure and cultural services John Godwin said: “Morton Stanley Festival is the biggest show in town and it’s a golden opportunity to perform. Over the years the event has really grown and evolved so we’re looking for a diverse, positive, range of acts to step into the limelight.

“It’s a community festival that’s open to all and we especially welcome local talent to come along and showcase their abilities. You don’t need to have lots of experience you just need the confidence to have what it takes to perform at Morton Stanley. Get in touch if you think you could be on stage.”

Performers other than musicians that may wish to get involved in the festival are also encouraged to contact the council’s events team.

There are also a number of opportunities for community groups, craftspeople, exhibitors and other businesses to take space or hire a stall around the festival.
