A NEW music festival is being launched in Bromsgrove.

The Breaking Bands Festival is being held at the Stoke Prior Sports and Country Club, off Westonhall Road, on the May bank holiday weekend.

Promotions manager for the festival, Allen Edwards, said: "It's a very exciting time for everyone involved and we have been working relentlessly the past few months getting this right.

"We hope that there is a band for everyone."

The festival's aim is to help people discover a new favourite band. It has already secured major partners and stage sponsors including get your Rock Out, Planet Mosh and Rock Radio UK.

Over the weekend there will be a variety of rock, punk and metal acts on the Sessions Studio main stage as well as the Get Your Rock Out acoustic stage.

On Friday, May 22, special guest band Voodoo Vegas, from Brighton, will be performing. The band recently performed a gig sharing the stage with Status Quo on their European tour.

The other bands taking to the stage are local punk band Thirteen Shots, Midlands-based Martyr De Mona and sub headliners The Heretic Order.

On Saturday, May 23, the warm up act will be London-based rock band Death Valley Knights, on stage before British heavy metal act Monument.

On the Sunday, May 24, the end of the day gets heavier when Morgue Orgy appear on stage before Breed 77.

Breed 77 have announced it will be their only gig of 2015, as they are set to work on a new studio album this year.

Allen added: "This gives the bands so much more exposure as our media partners will be running promotion on the bands, interviews, airplay and more.

"The festival is about bringing the music community together."

Badaxe and Ross Lee will also be doing comedy on the main stage throughout the weekend.

Ross will be known to many as The Pranker, and will be performing some of his new sketches.

Day tickets for the festival cost £12.50 each, while weekend tickets, including camping and the VIP Friday night, is priced at just £25.

Under 14s get in all weekend free with paying adults.

Ticket holders can also take part in a free raffle.

On site there is a brick toilets and showers for campers. There will also be trade stalls, real ales, and hot and cold food.
