THE former artistic director of the Bromsgrove Festival will be remembered at a memorial concert to be held at Artrix later this month.

Harold Taylor, a much loved and respected musician, teacher and performer died in January this year.

As well as being the artistic director of the Bromsgrove Festival for 17 years, Mr Taylor was also the former head of music for Bromsgrove College (now HOW College).

International concert player Piers Lane, WNO soprano Rosie Wragg, entertainer Mike Lunts and pianists Julian Jacobson and Marie Louise Taylor will be amongst those paying tribute. The programme for the concert, which takes place this weekend, includes pieces by Rachmaninoff, Schubert and Chopin.

It will also feature songs by Roger Quilter and a medley of comic songs.

Proceeds from ticket sales will go towards the refurbishment of a Steinway piano which was generously donated by Mr Taylor to the college during his lifetime.

The concert to celebrate the life of Harold Taylor is at Artrix on Saturday, November 22 starting at 3pm.
