TO celebrate the opening of St Andrew’s Church half a century ago a special anniversary concert will be held at St John’s Church in Bromsgrove.

The two churches share a connection- in the 1950s, the victor of St John’s proposed a new church was needed to serve Charford.

He and parish member Christopher Pilkington worked hard to raise the necessary funds to build St Andrew’s church, which was later opened in November 1964.

On Saturday, November 1, the Orchestra of St John will perform a special concert, conducted by its music director, Richard Jenkinson.

The service will feature Bromsgrove musician Charlotte Moseley as the violin soloist in Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto and range of works by composers, Schuman and Borodin and Brahms.

Tickets cost £10 and can be purchased on the door from 6.30pm. To book visit www.artrix.co.uk or call 01527 577330.

Accompanied children and students go free and refreshments are included.

The celebration will start at 7.30pm.
