A FORMER Palace Youth Theatre member is rising to fame as he joins the cast of Tweet Tweet at the Repertory Theatre in Birmingham.

Griffin Mosson, 18 from Redditch, was a member of the theatre group for five years and had starring roles in many of the group's shows including Smee and Mr Darling in Peter Pan, Fat Samin Bugsy Malone, and Snowball in Animal Farm.

Griffin will now be playing Mason in Tweet Tweet, written by Charlene James, which will tour and be performed at the REP, the Palace Theatre (November 10), Liverpool Everyman and Ipswich New Wolsey Theatre, as well as variety of other venues.

Tweet Tweet is produced as part of a Young Theatre Makers partnership between The REP, The New Wolsey Theatre and Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse to create new productions for young people.

Speaking about the experience Griffin said: “When I went for the audition I never expected to get a part; there was some really tough competition.

"It is a privilege to perform at a theatre like the REP and get the chance to tour in other theatres around the country."

He added: "I have to thank Palace Youth Theatre for helping me to get where I am today. Without them none of it would be possible so I would urge anyone interested to join the group – who knows where it may lead.”

Lizzi Sifford, Youth Theatre and Arts officer, said: “We are so proud of what Griffin has achieved and that we could help along the way.

"We have four groups in Palace Youth Theatre, both performing and non-performing, which all aim to help young people build confidence and social skills."
