Review – DREAMBOATS AND PETTICOATS at the Festival Theatre, Malvern, from Monday, March 31 to Saturday, April 5, 2014.

THIS journey back to the exciting days of the1960s when the music world began to change with the advent of rock ‘n’ roll is as good as ever.

When D and B first saw the light of day a couple of years ago it spawned a million selling album and now it’s back on the rounds as a new musical and hugely welcome.

Equally as vibrant and uplifting as the original it romps through more than 40 hits of yesteryear that feel like they were only yesterday. It’s non-stop, breathless action performed by a company at the top of its game and all the music is played and sung live.

The singing is top notch and does justice to those old hits such as In Dreams, It’s Only Make Believe and Teenager in Love, and the backing music is excellent too. Such talent all round is quite remarkable.

Bundles of fun and having begun the night with Let’s Dance there’s plenty of opportunity to join in the action.

It was jump out of your seats time and a big audience with a healthy mix of ages lapped it up.

Unadulterated enjoyment anyone will find hard to be bettered and has to be highly recommended.
