A NEW stage version of The Lighthouse on Shivering Sands manages to see the funny side of this creepy tale.

Presented by North Country Theatre, the play will be at Feckenham Village Hall on Saturday, November 10 at 7.30pm.

This company has been responsible for hilarious adaptations of classics such as The 39 Steps and the stories of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

Now the group is tackling a hoary old horror by J.S.Fletcher - a Yorkshire writer who churned out more than 230 books in the 1920s and 30s.

Needless to say the approach is hardly reverential and there’s the promise of a truly hilarious evening for people.

The production comes direct from the Harrogate Playhouse as part of a 65 date performance tour.

And, there is a mermaid in it - seeing is believing.

Tickets cost £8.50 and are now on sale at The Village Shop and The Rose & Crown.
