The sounds of the Appalachian peaks and America's roots are finally returning to Conwy county this month.

The shores of Llandudno will be bathed in music for three days from Thursday, July 19 when the second Rockytop Bluegrass Picking weekend at Bodafon park farm.

Relocating from Llansannan Sportsman’s Arms, those who have been looking to fill the void since the last Conwy Bluegrass festival ended two summers ago, can rejoice with a spectacular weekend of old time American roots music.

Bluegrass enthusiasts can look forward to a packed bill of highly infectious live groups on the Saturday which include three piece bands Rip Roaring Success and The Campbell’s as well as the opportunity to kick back with the Dixie Hicks.

Sunday’s line-up will feature a homage to the Conwy Bluegrass festival, with music from the event’s organisers of 26 years John & Gill Highly Strung and fellow North Walian Appalachian fanatics the Conwy Bluegrass Band.

The festival will also feature a barn dance, open mic sessions, throw downs with the Raise the Dust and Mind the Step Appalachian dancing troupes as well as numerous workshops and, befitting a celebration of bluegrass, impromptu performances from musicians picking and jamming in every nook and cranny.

Bluegrass is very much back and here to stay in the Conwy events calendar!

For the serious musicians who want to just play and those who love the music, head to Bodafon Farm from Thursday, July 19.

All concerts are closed events and will require a ticket available from rockytopbluegrass.co.uk.

Tickets are £15 for camping and access to music all weekend, or £5 for a day ticket.
