March 2016 will see a first for the UK with the launch of Groove Cairngorm – the first resort-based snowsports festival to take place on British snow.

The festival, which will take place over the weekend of March 11-12, will be hosted in conjunction with Cairngorm Mountain Ltd in Aviemore.

As well as regular snowsports, the event takes place over the same weekend as the Scottish Freestyle Championships, so expect to see some of the country's top riders grabbing some big air during the day.

Following the snowsports and entertainment each day up on the mountain, there will be après-ski with live music and world class DJs until the early hours on Friday and Saturday in a big top in Aviemore.

Legendary hip-hop DJ Grandmaster Flash and renowned musical tastemakers Hot Chip (DJ set) will headline.

Other amazing acts due to appear include The Cuban Brothers, DJ Yoda, Prides, BBC Radio 1/1Xtra‘s underground electronic tastemaker DJ Monki, Eton Messy, Niteworks, Spring Break, The Lafontaines, and The Elephant Sessions.

The festival is being launched by the team behind Groove Loch Ness, and following the huge success of the inaugural event last summer, Groove are very excited to be expanding.

Sam Barker, one of the Groove founders, said: "We’re bringing snowsports back to their spiritual home. After the success of the inaugural Groove Loch Ness this summer, we just couldn’t wait a whole year for our next party, and we are very excited to be partnering with Cairngorm Mountain to be delivering this unique event in the UK’s festival calendar.

“Cairngorm mountain has been given a facelift since it was taken over by Natural Retreats in 2014. The endless work they have been doing in the summer months has a huge impact on the conditions in winter, which stay better for longer.

"We want to celebrate that and give snow riders the opportunity to enjoy a snowsports festival weekend on home snow, that doesn’t break the bank.”
