Al Pacino is 75 years old today. He’s one of those actors who seems so timeless we’re not sure whether we’re surprised how old he is or we thought he should be older.

Either way, Al (or Mr Pacino, as we’d call him to his face) has had a genuinely legendary career spanning almost half a century. And if there’s one thing you can rely on him for it’s those classic lines – growled softly in that menacing (and occasionally Cuban accented) voice we’ve all come to fear and revere.

Here are 17 of those classic lines from 17 different Pacino movies, all interspersed with vintage snaps of Al at different stages of success.
