AFTER years of hard work on the New York underground dance scene, Joanne Stefani Germanotta, better known as Lady GaGa, has released her first solo album.
Influenced by flamboyant glam rockers such as David Bowie and Queen (her name is a reference to their hit song Radio Ga-Ga), she grew up in Manhattan where she attended private school and New York University's prestigious Tisch School of the Arts.
At the tender age of 20 she began working for Interscope Records as a songwriter, penning songs for pop acts such as the Pussycat Dolls and is now ready to make it on her own.
This is a very tight and well produced album which delivers huge dance beats with catchy melodies and with lyrics of celebrity, money and boys, I’m sure the kids out there will be down with it.
The songs can get a little samey as the album goes on, and many may call her a Christina Aguilera/Gwen Stefani clone but it’s obvious that the girl has talent and her electronica style sets her apart from the rest.
A solid foundation for a promising solo career.
