The creative force behind Oasis, the band formed by his younger brother Liam, the older Gallagher wrote some of their best-known songs including Wonderwall, Don’t Look Back In Anger and Champagne Supernova.

Definitely Maybe, the band’s first album, became the fastest-selling debut album in British history when it was released in 1994.

At the height of their success, Oasis defined the world of Britpop and landed eight UK number ones singles and eight UK number one albums until their split in 2009.

In a career spanning over 21 years to date, Gallagher has sold more than 70 million records around the world.

His most recent album, Chasing Yesterday, debuted at number one on its release in March this year.

Jeff Smith, head of music, BBC Radio 2, said: “We’ve persuaded a fantastic range of world-class musicians to our In Concert stage over the years and it’s great to have Noel Gallagher join us again with some unique interpretations of his songs.”

Past BBC Radio 2 In Concerts have featured Jeff Lynne’s ELO, Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran, Paul Weller and Coldplay.
