Taylor Swift has been banned from Australia’s Triple J Hottest 100, despite securing enough votes to place her at number 12.

Country-turned-pop singer Taylor was not welcomed into the Aussie rundown of top songs from the past year because she wasn’t deemed cool enough by pollers to make the cut.

Despite a campaign by Buzzfeed to “teach those music snobs a lesson”, Triple J decided that they still couldn’t allow her the title of one of the Hottest 100 and created an app to spam votes for Taylor’s hit Shake It Off.

When the poll results rolled in, Triple J had shaken off Taylor, who was ousted from the list of favourites even though she had garnered enough support to see her into 12th place.

Homegrown Aussie talent Chet Faker came out on top with his track Talk Is Cheap, while another Australian star, teen rapper Tkay Maidza, would have been glad Taylor was snubbed as it meant that she made number 100.

The poll gathers votes for artists from across the globe, but a majority of 59 of those who made the list were Australian, with 15 from the USA and 14 from the UK.
