Danny Dyer has said he is in EastEnders for the long haul.
This Christmas marks the actor’s first anniversary on the BBC soap as Queen Vic landlord and family man Mick Carter.
Danny revealed on The Graham Norton Show: “It feels like I’ve been in it forever. It’s been a nutty year and I’m loving it. It’s hard work, but I love it. To be fair, it could have been a car crash for me but it’s worked out beautifully. I’ve been an actor for 25 years and never won anything and now I’ve won two awards.”
Asked about how long he would like to remain on the show, he said: “I’d like a long run.”
Mick has had lots of family strife over the past year and at Christmas he is set to learn his wife Linda has been raped by family member Dean Wicks, and that she doesn’t know who the father of her baby is.
Danny revealed: “It’s the Christmas from hell. It’s all lovely and then about nine o’clock it gets so dark with an hour of the Carter family unfolding and me having a complete breakdown. I loved it!”
The Graham Norton Show airs on BBC One tonight at 10.35pm.
