THE search for sugar man will finally be over for Midlands music fans as long lost singer songwriter Rodriguez performs in Birmingham.
The star, who spent decades in the musical wilderness before the award winning documentary Searching for Sugarman propelled him to stardom, is appearing at Birmingham Symphony Hall on Tuesday, March 11.
Rodriguez released two albums in the 1960s but due to poor sales he returned to a life of manual labour and left music behind.
However, his albums gained cult status with in Apartheid South Africa.
It was only after a worldwide search for the singer of the haunting Sugarman and I Wonder that he was tracked down to a Detroit building site, totally unaware of his new fame.
His triumphant return to music has seen him play sell out shows across the world including the Roundhouse, Royal Festival Hall and an invite to Glastonbury.
His live performances are lauded as emotional and inspiring as he plays and sings like a man given a second chance he never believed would happen.
