FANS and celebrities across the globe will remember David Bowie on Tuesday with a series of events and concerts marking a year since the musician died aged 69.

The Brixton-born singer continuously offered an alternative to music fans as he repeatedly reinvented his look, from Ziggy Stardust to the Thin White Duke, up until his final record Blackstar – a death-shrouded farewell released days before he died of cancer.

After his death, fans took to the streets in Brixton to celebrate his life and music – and a similar meet-up is expected one year on.

BRITISH Oscar hopefuls fresh from the Golden Globes will hear later if they have received a Bafta nod.

The EE British Academy Film Awards, the biggest awards show outside the US, attracts Hollywood A-listers as well as home-grown talent.

Skyfall star Naomie Harris is considered a favourite for a best supporting actress nod for her role as a crack addict in coming-of-age drama Moonlight, while Andrew Garfield will be hoping for a best actor nomination for his performance as a combat medic in Mel Gibson’s Second World War film Hacksaw Ridge.

POINTLESS host Richard Osman has said he would hate to see the BBC quiz show move to another network.

While programmes such as The Great British Bake Off and The Voice have switched channels, Richard said he believes Pointless has a “duty of care” to the viewers who watch the programme on the BBC to keep it there.

TWO more celebrities are to join the Big Brother house in Friday night’s live episode as another pair of housemates are “edited out” by their fellow contestants.

The new duo, whose identities are being kept a mystery, will be hoping to fit right in with the 15 other celebrities who have been getting on famously – for the most part.

Pre-recorded segments to be aired in the same episode will show New Star housemates Ray J Norwood and Bianca Gascoigne becoming the latest contestants to be frozen out.

ALEXANDER Skarsgard takes on the role of a mute bartender in the first pictures from Duncan Jones’s new sci-fi drama.

The Netflix project, called Mute, will take audiences to a futuristic Berlin.

Alexander plays Leo, a bartender living in the pulsing city, who was left mute after a childhood accident. The only good thing in his life is his beautiful girlfriend Naadirah, played by Seyneb Saleh.
